"Very Nice Quaint Hotel - I knew when I booked this hotel that is was a "Bed and Breakfast" type hotel. It was better, because the rooms were next to each other like in a hotel (your own room you could lock and leave a do not disturb sign, etc.). But the hotel still had that Bed and Breakfast feel. The room was filled with antiques, huge king sized bed with a lace/crocheted canopy top and very comfortable. It also had a day bed if you wanted to bring a child. There was a beautiful huge Wardrobe where you hung your clothes, a sitting area to read your paper or be on your computer (Wi-Fi had excellent reception), a desk AND a mini kitchen with a small fridge, microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. It was beyond our expectations. The "Winter" rate through Expedia was $95.00 a night, a great value, plus they provided breakfast every morning in the Bed and Breakfast style. I couldn't find anything wrong with The First Colony Inn". Oh, did I mention it was very quiet and we knew other guests were there because the parking lot was full. A five star stay!!!"

"Everything was perfect! - The staff are SO NICE!! They made us a special breakfast because we were leaving early. They have beautiful gardens, free excellent breakfast, a short walk to the beach, wine and snacks in the afternoons, refrigerator, microwave, bicycles. It's a cozy family owned place, not a big impersonal resort. Everything was perfect! and you can open windows, too"

"Our first OBX visit! - We usually prefer oceanfront hotels whenever we visit coast, but this time, we loved First colony inn stay!! We never knew having the hotel not facing the ocean can be so pleasant yet give the ocean front feel!! This is our first visit to OBX and the inn maintenance folks were kind enough to let us know the best places to visit around the islands. We enjoyed the stay thoroughly and are looking forward to go back next year!"

"Exceeded high expectations - From the minute we checked in, the staff were helpful and friendly. We were given the option to upgrade the room to one on the top level but kept our original room (Nicholas Johnson). Breakfast had many options including fresh cooked eggs, sausage, etc. Enjoyed complimentary wine each evening. Room was quiet and well equipped. Chris was especially helpful in guiding us to great places for sea food. One of the best B&B I have stayed at. Will go out of my way to stay there again. "

"The hotel is right in the center of everything. - We had a wonderful stay over Labor Day weekend. Wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel reminded me of a gracious older southern lady. They had a nice afternoon refreshments and very nice breakfast. The hotel is old (historic) but has been decorated and kept nicely. "

"I liked it! - The Colony Inn is a fine place! It is not your usual place to stay. The structure formerly was 3 miles or so down the road and was moved and renovated but it retains the features of an older building. The bathrooms even have towel warmers and were very clean. Overall the place was extremely clean and the employees were excellent. Breakfast is great and ends at 9:30am."

"Charming! - What a wonderful place! I look forward to staying again. We only stayed one night, but plan to book again for an entire weekend soon. We loved the wine and cheese social and sitting on their deck relaxing. The atmosphere is peaceful. My only complaint would be that the shower water pressure needs to be higher. The room was so clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic get away."

"Awesome stay! Great place to relax - I stayed for 1 night only but I'll be back! From quick and easy check in to the beautiful clean;tidy room it was an amazing stay. The hotel offers free bikes and beach chairs/umbrellas for the residents to use. The pool and rocking chairs outside made for the perfect day trip. Morning breakfast offers both hot and cold items everything was tasty. Go stay there and you won't be disappointed."
