"We loved First Colony Inn and would definitely return! The Inn has a unique and quaint vintage beach feel and lovely (and comfortable) rooms. The manager and her entire team were friendly and so helpful with everything we needed (including where to find a great non-touristy place for dinner). The afternoon happy hour was a nice surprise (especially on a rainy day), and the chocolate croissants at breakfast were amazing!! Five stars! "

"An absolute gem of OBX! Beach access, a pool, porch swings, breakfast-- what more could you need? This was our first time staying at the First Colony Inn, and on day two we agreed that we would be returning and staying here again next summer. I've been coming own to OBX for 30 years with my family and normally stay at a big house. As it was just two of us, we decided to check out the inn and it did not disappoint. Lovely little historical details, birds chirping, a whimsical garden, and truly wonderful, kind staff. We rode bikes to nearby spots, enjoyed use of the provided beach chairs and towels, and lounged by the pool (which always had open seats!) Location is close to great restaurants like Sam & Omie's, there's mini golf and ice cream just across the high way, and it truly felt like returning home at the end of the day. The bathroom and whole room really felt larger than in the photos, and were very relaxing and charming. The provided breakfast was tasty and had a little something anyone could enjoy. We will definitely be back!"

"I started coming to Ocracoke as a young boy in the 70s and was always fascinated by The Castle, which then sat empty. Imagine my joy, decades later, to be able to actually spend a few nights in this beautiful and historic property. I had rented a house for a week and wanted to stay for a couple of extra days before heading back to reality. Options were few, but The Castle did have an opening in the Lighthouse Room (I highly recommend!). Being there made me wish I had spent my entire week there. I will certainly consider that my next time on the island. The new management team is outstanding and a special shout-out to Zachariah, who packed me a to-go breakfast bag the morning I had to depart to catch an early ferry. Little touches go a long way. Stay at The Castle and get treated like royalty!"

"This little Motel is the cutest place I’ve stayed. The manager went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and was so accommodating when I needed any help. I have a large full size truck and had to squeeze in but the girls were really helpful with keeping everyone from blocking the road out. Very clean and re-modeled. Great price as well. "
